What do colored circles near a photo mean

Colored circles next to a user's photo or name signify the user's online status.

Green circle - the user is online and now on the site or app.
Yellow circle - the user was recently online.
Gray circle means the user is offline. Write them a message and they will receive a notification.

If there is no circle near the photo, it means that the user has not been online for a long time. But if you text them or send them a like, they will receive a notification and may come back.
